Customer Reviews:
$24.48 for Bovril but I think the English packaged gravy in small plastic bottles (2007-05-07)
At $2 per plastic bottle, this is a decent price. Many recipes call for chicken stock and Minor’s low sodium chicken base doesn’t impart the right flavor. I don’t like the ingredients of msg and corn syrup. I ordered this item because I used to read about having a cup of bovril in Agatha Christie mysteries. I tried two teaspoons of dark brown thick goo in a crab and greens soup today and I am surprised at how much tastier the soup became. It really is special.
However, I think it is gravy. It contains corn starch and corn syrup and reminds me of the flavor packets in high cholesterol, fat, sodium expensive instant noodle bowls. A jar of tasty Boston Market gravy costs about $2.Why is it so hard to get? (2007-01-30)
This is the best, but so hard to find. I like one of the other reviewers had shipping problems. I waited 2 months before I received my shipment. It is worth the wait. I cannot find it where I now live, and it really goes a long way and is very flavorful. I just went and bought a large rubbermaid bottle and mixed half of the Knorr bottle and the rest with water and made a quart of broth to add to my food when cooking,it beats paying $3.00 and change for a store bought box. I do hope they bring more in…PLEASEwonderful (2007-01-17)
i just love this stuff. So do many others who purchase it. keep it comingThe BEST (2007-01-13)
This product has been in my kitchen for 15 years - it was then sold and labeled Bovril. Knorr started marketing it about 5-6 years ago. Unfortunately they no longer carry the concentrated beef. It gets used in soups, sauces and gravies and for cooking pasta and vegetables. I have tried all the concentrates in the supermarket and even some commercial brands and this is the best.Good product, horrible Amazon service (2007-01-04)
I ordered a 12-pack of this broth, and so far, I’ve received a total of 3 bottles: 1 original order, and 2 replacements. Amazon still hasn’t sent me the 12-pack, and now instead of correcting my order, they want to cancel it and refund my money. I’ve been on and off of hold for over 20 minutes and they still haven’t helped me. I strongly recommend you find somewhere else to buy this product.
