Customer Reviews:
My favorite of the Fantastic flavors (2008-01-05)
Tuscan Tomato and Shells is my favorite of the six flavors I’ve had - better than the Thai, Hot & Sour, Pea, Potato Leek, and Minestrone varieties (Minestrone was my second favorite). I bought 6 cases of fantastic soup on Amazon back in April when they had some great deals. This one is really flavorful, and the pasta cooks up well if you do let it sit for 5 minutes. I found that some of the other varieties really rely on salt for most of the taste. This one is definitely not in that camp. It does not taste like tomato paste (as one reviewer said) but it does have a nice strong savory tomato element to it.
Having six cases in various flavors, I’ve brought these to work and shared them with 3 friends, who have all liked the Tuscan Tomato and Shells variety as well.
I don’t want to discount the fact that other reviewers seemingly don’t like this flavor. You can dispute taste, I guess. But it’s not a universal dislike. This is a very good soup. Possibly my favorite of all the instant/water vegetarian soups - and I’ve tried many different brands.
yuck (2007-11-20)
My brother who eats anything and my mother who loves tomato soup would not touch these. Bad flavor and strong acidic taste. No good. Do yourself a favorite and just buy a can of tomato soup.Microwavable Tomato Soup (2007-06-08)
I purchased this product for my husband to take to work for ‘emergency’ lunches, etc. As yet, neither of us has tried it. My husband HAS tried this brand’s Minestrone, but is not fond of it.
Despite Amazon’s representation that “all things are returnable,” this item was shown as NOT returnable while still within the 30 days after receipt.Fantastic? I think NOT! (2007-06-08)
If you have any respect for your taste buds, you wouldn’t torture them with it.Really bad (2007-05-18)
There’s not much I don’t like, but this flavor is really bad; and not just my opinion but shared by my daughter and a hapless friend who chanced to be here when I decided to try it. Tastes like tomato paste straight from the can with some dough lumps in it. Seriously, I hesitate to donate the rest to the homeless shelter. I also tried the Thai flavor–it’s very spicy but not bad,not great. I really wouldn’t have bothered to review soup, for Pete’s sake, but if it saves one victim, it’s time well spent. Go get some good ole Campbell’s.
