- India Tree Dark Muscovado Sugar from the African island of Mauritius has a fine, moist texture, a high molasses content
- The strong lingering flavor goes well with other rich flavors - as in gingerbread, coffee, chocolate cakes and fudge
- For a more robust flavor with your favorite recipes, use in place of dark brown sugar
- India Tree Dark Muscovado Sugar takes its flavor and color from the sugar cane juice from which it is made
- Sugar milled in Mauritius is particularly special because it retains much of the flavor of the cane grown on soil rich with volcanic ash
Customer Reviews:
molassas lovers rejoice (2008-02-24)
V E R Y impressed with this product. I have experienced Muscavo suger from South America and wanted to try sugars from other regions. My expectations were more than met. This has the most molassas content of any dark sugar I have experimented with. Planning to try more of India Tree’s offerings soon.Great Sweetener (2008-02-11)
This has a very rich flavor. Yes, it’s mostly just a sweet taste like suger, but it also has distinct flavors. I am partial to all dark foods for health reasons, but this one has the added benefit of making coffee taste better. 1/2 teaspoon can be a treat for kids.oh sugar, mmmmmm (2007-12-21)
If you havent tried this sugar, it is a must. It adds a deep rich flavorful experience. Use it instead of regular brown suger if you want to bring a warmer flavor to you dessert.Sssshhhh. . .it’s a secret! (2007-10-28)
Don’t tell anybody, but this sugar is the secret to the worlds best Chocolate Chip Cookies! Just use it in your favorite recipe, and watch everybody struggle to figure out what makes them so awsome!“Real” brown sugar (2007-09-14)
Most brown sugar one would buy is either white sugar with molasses added or sugar that is tan which has a small amount of the molasses left in. This seems to be the real thing, dark brown and almost gummy with all the minerals from a large amount of the molasses. Rich flavor, I use it in coffee. Seems like it might be too strong when you just try it on it’s own, but it has a positive effect on whatever I add it to.
