Bear Naked Oatmeal, Peach and Nut (2007-01-19)
Everyone who tries this just loves it. We were just talking about this oatmeal today at the lunch table. We are all very disappointed that it has been discontinued. Not Bad…But Too Sweet and Unsatisfying For Me…Maybe For Kids (2006-11-03)
Well, I really liked the “Bear Naked” cold cereals, that also doubled as a nice nutritious snack, so I thought I’d give the “Bear Naked- All Natural Oatmeal-Peach and Nut” a try.
To start with, this is an instant cereal. There are 8 1.41g packets which you empty into a bowl and add boiling water. half cup more or less depending on how thin or thick you want the consistency.Or, You can also make it in the micro-wave. I guess I was expecting something better, after having liked the cold cereals so well.
This oatmeal which has whole grain oats(a good thing),evaporated cane juice, cashews, whole grain flax meal, peaches,’natural flavors’,sea salt and cinnamon, doesn’t taste bad, but I found it to be much too sweet(11 g sugar). I also didn’t feel that the one packet was enough of a meal to satisfy me for very long.
It’s probably something little kids would like, and these little packets should be satisfying for them. If you are not sure, and you don’t want to get this multi-pack and be stuck if you don’t care for it. You can also find these sold at Ralph’s Market, where it is sold by single boxes although, the deal here for the multi-pack is pretty good, if you already know you like this oatmeal.
Other nutritional info: 170 calories, 5 g fat, no saturated or trans fat,0 cholesterol, 85mg sodium 27 g carbs and 5 gprotein. Also has 6% iron(of Daily recommendations)
I also recently tried “McCann’s Quick Cook Irish Oatmeal”(not instant, but cooks in a few minutes), and I loved it. Very satisfying meal, and tasted good too. See my review if interested.
So maybe for the kids, but not for me.
Remember to breathe, eat healthy, and enjoy….Laurie
