Good conscious choice in chocolate (2008-03-23)
I like to have a little bit of chocolate every day, and especially at the office where there are bite-sized mainstream milk chocolate brands on everyone’s desks, it seems important to be prepared with a conscious choice: fair trade, organic chocolate. Having dark chocolate nearby is especially important to me, since I try to maintain a vegan diet and it’s easy to slip and eat milk chocolate when there’s nothing else around.

The great thing about this chocolate is its shape and size: the little drops are much smaller than Hershey’s Kisses, for context, but larger than the average chocolate chip. A few pieces of this chocolate gives a satisfying sense of sweetness and rich chocolate flavor, and with a sense of having chosen well instead of settling for what’s nearby.

The only thing keeping this chocolate from a 5-star rating is that while the flavor is very pleasant, the texture has a bit of an oiliness to it. It’s nothing that should prevent a dark chocolate lover from enjoying it, but if you have any reservations about dark chocolate at all, this is not the easiest one to get used to.

Other than that, I can’t recommend it enough.
